With a warm welcome I introduce Melissa Tavss the creator of Tipsy Scoop. She puts a different spin on ice cream by infusing it with liquor. Tipsy Scoop blends the magic of an artisan ice cream with a perfectly mixed cocktail. Can you give a brief introduction about your company?
Tipsy Scoop creates liquor-infused ice cream inspired by classic and contemporary cocktails. All of our ice creams are 5 percent alcohol by volume- so don’t let the spoon fool you!

What prompted you to take the leap and start your own business?
I have always loved playing around with different recipes and creating something innovative. I loved experimenting with cocktails and also making ice creams, so I decided to merge the two!

Would you be willing to share how you started your company (ie, funding, branding, advertising, etc.)? What surprised you about the process?
We started the company by first perfecting the recipe- the ice cream base. That was the hardest part- to create an ice cream base that would be able to hold a good amount of alcohol and still maintain a smooth creamy ice cream consistency.

So very often self doubt has a way of stopping people from trying new ventures. Did you have any doubts along the way? If so, how did you overcome them?
I have doubts everyday, but you kind of just have to go with your gut feelings and take advice from people you trust and keep moving forward.

What productivity tools do you use to get tasks/assignments done? (This can be an app, software, book, etc.)
We use UberRush for all of our deliveries and use Square for all of our payments and FreshBooks for invoicing and accounting.

What can we look for from your company in the coming years?
Hopefully there will be Tipsy Scoop kitchens all over the country!

Random fun fact about yourself/company.
Our most popular flavors are Dark Chocolate Whiskey and Salted Caramel, Cake Batter Vodka Martini, and Spiked Hazelnut Coffee (made with Frangelico and Cafe Patron).
